The dark red finish isn’t quite to our taste, we’d have to admit, but the Toshiba Satellite L755D-12L is certainly distinctive. And no matter whether it’s pink, orange, purple or turquoise there’s no disguising the fact that the Satellite is a very respectable laptop indeed.

Following the anti-glasses backlash from involuntarily bespectacled 3D TV viewers everywhere, glasses-free TVs are riding the angst and taking CES 2011 by storm. While most companies at the show use the same parallax barrier technology, which spits out a number of fixed 3D «zones» around the TV, Toshiba has taken a different tack with its latest 3D laptop, which actually uses a webcam intelligently target the 3D effect on the fly. We lent our eyes to see how this seemingly novel concept works in the real world.

The Toshiba mini NB 505 № 508BL is a nice little netbook that comes with a cool blue Easy Grip Finish on the lid, it may look as glam as the glossy finishes that some netbooks and laptop come with. However, when the netbook is on floor because the device slipped out of your hand, the glossy lid is not going to do much then. While with this easy grip surface, it should help the user hold onto the netbook even under extreme circumstances, such a walking with the device etc.

The Toshiba Libretto W105 is like no other, to borrow Sony’s old tag line. It’s the first mini-notebook to feature dual touch screen displays and a reasonably powerful nonnetbook CPU. The bad news? It’s a limited run, pricey piece of showcase tech released to commemorate Toshiba’s 25th anniversary. Still, the newest Libretto is a glimpse of our computing future, and we expect that after the W105 is relegated to eBay collector status, we’ll see an even better follow-up. Heck, other manufacturers have already shown off prototypes of dual screen ultra-portables and full-sized notebooks.

Toshiba’s new Portégé R700 surprised me with its mature styling, serious muscle, and ridiculously light heft. Despite being a true ultraportable, this machine is quite powerful-Toshiba somehow even fit an optical drive on it! But a few unpleasant surprises make the whopping $1599 price tag less appealing.

The Toshiba SDP93s is what everyone is looking for in a portable DVD player now days. We were very impressed with the large 9 inch display screen that offers an amazing 800 x 480 high resolution screen for clean and clear movie viewing. Toshiba doesn’t stop at just an impressive sized portable DVD player; they also have included a SD card slot so you can listen to your favorite music and other media files directly on your DVD player.
