Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (“Sony Ericsson”) announced today that its net sales and net income before taxes in the first quarter of 2009 continue to be negatively affected by weak consumer demand as well as de-stocking in the retail and distribution channels.

U.S. video game sales rose 10 percent in February to $1.47 billion, led again by Nintendo’s blockbuster Wii console, as gaming continued to show resilience despite an economic downturn that has sapped consumer spending.
Nintendo plans to introduce the Nintendo DSi handheld gaming machine, the third generation of a gaming platform that has sold more than 100 million units worldwide. The new Nintendo DSi comes with two cameras and can record. The sound quality of the Nintendo DSi has also been boosted, as has the size of the liquid-crystal screen.
